I teach architectural theory and history at the University of Cincinnati and am a founding director of CERHAS, a media lab that creates virtual archaeological, architectural, and landscape reconstructions for public education venues such as exhibits. With 5-time funding from the NEH we have created interactive video and media programs about the Ancient Ohio Earthworks, Troy, a Shaker Settlement, a Latrobe Villa, and several other sites. Our work features narrated videos linked in an interactive spatial environment so that audiences can maintain the feeling of exploration that is so essential to spatilly-distributed subject matter (such as architectural history), while also getting access to rich and diverse content. We are also working on new interactive media to translate these experiences into the context of heritage tourism, focusing on the Ohio Valley Region.
